Khallikote Autonomous College (Upgraded to Khallikote Unitary University) is one of the second oldest colleges of Odisha established in the year 1856. The Department of B.Ed established in the year of 2016. Teaching in the department was started in year 2016 with the sanction strength 50 students each year. The Bed Department provides teaching in the pedagogy of Physical-Science, Bioscience, Mathematics, English Language, Odia Language, Geography, History and Pol.Sc.

Currently the Department has one Coordinator Smt.Dipika Sethy. The department has four Guest faculties named Miss. Anita Pattnaik, Miss.Sumitra Parida, Mr.Sangam Kumar Pradhan, and Mr.Ujwalsingh Nayak.

The department maintains a reading room with more than hundreds of valuable books especially contributed by NCTE. There is a brought space for wall magazine where the students are encouraged to express their creativity through writings, drawings and so on. The dept also subscribes various magazines, articles, and journals for the use of students.

The dept organizes various events throughout the year that includes cultural gathering, seminars, and competitions. Every year the department also organizes several competitions like Essay, Debate, Quiz, song extempore speech, Elocutions and so on which the Dept student participates enthusiastically.

Department organizes various state level and national seminars sponsored by NCTE. Experienced and renowned teachers from the field of B.Ed are invited to give a talk for two hour on a topic of their choice from the syllabus .The lecture end with an interactive session with the speaker.

Since its inception, the most students from B.Ed department have been employed as this department and also qualified OSSTET (all qualified), OTET, CTET, KV, OAVS, CHT (70% cleared), and DSSSB. Many students have got Job in different State Governments and Central Govt. Schools. They have also qualified Banks, Railways, and other competitive Examinations.

  4. Unwillingness of students to venture beyond syllabus
  5. As most of the students in the stream of Arts are rural based, they are not well versed in English. So, the teachers are to take initiative to teach the basics despite the burden of the heavy

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The B.Ed Dept organizes various events throughout the year that includes cultural gathering, seminars and competitions.

Every year the department also organizes Ganesh Puja , Saraswati Puja, Welcome Function, Farewell Function and  several competitions like -Essay, Debate, -Quiz, song extempore speech, Teacher Day, School Internship.

The Students B.Ed Programme are undergoing two months 1st year & 3month 2nd year School Internship Programme at the reputed Educational Institution like. D.A.V Public School, Queen’s Mission High School,Telugu Girl’s High School,V.V Giri Girl’s High School,S.B.N High School, Municipality High School,(Aska road),City High School, Medical Campus High School,Saraswati Sisu Bidya Mandir (Ramahari Nagar),Saraswati Sisubidya Mandir(Gosaninuagaon.).

Art exhibition, Tailoring, Wood carving, the field visit  etc, are the Principle actually  of the department.  The Department publishes its annual Magazine each year. The name of Magazine is PARISPANDANA’.
