The journey of the Post Graduate Department of Zoology of Khallikote Unitary University (erstwhile Khallikote Autonomous College) started as learning center for Zoology at intermediate Science (I.Sc) and Bachelor of Science. In the year 1983-84, the department of higher education introduced Post graduate studies in the department of Zoology. Later M. Phil course was also introduced in the year 2009-10. The UG/PG degree is currently affiliated to Khallikote unitary University. The department offers core course in B.Sc. Zoology and General Elective comprising 6 semesters/3 years, M.Sc. comprising 4 semesters/2 years and M.Phil. 2 semesters/1 year. Selection of students to choose a career in UG is executed through e-admission process conducted by student academic management system (SAMS) while PG on the basis of merit in the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) since 2021. Since establishment of the department many students have secured reputable position in society as well as in different govt. and private sectors.
